Eurojackpot Could Be Coming to Cyprus

Eurojackpot could be set to get a 20th participating country after OPAP Cyprus submitted a proposal to add the game to its portfolio.
The Cypriot national lottery operator already runs eight games, and is now keen to join the multinational Eurojackpot. Approval from the government’s cabinet is required before the game can be introduced, but it may be a formality as the idea is reportedly being backed by the Minister of Finance.
A three-member technical committee has been appointed to evaluate the request and will negotiate with OPAP regarding the potential need for additional licence fees or contributions for operating the proposed game.
Spreading Across Europe
When Eurojackpot started in 2012, it was played in just seven countries. It has expanded over the years to the point that it now has 19 member nations. Go to the Participating Countries page for a full list.
Poland became the 18th country to sell tickets in September 2017, before Greece joined in March 2024.
The Greek national lottery is also run by OPAP, so it could be that Eurojackpot’s success over the past 12 months has convinced the operator to bid for its inclusion across the Aegean Sea in Cyprus too.
With so many countries now on board, Eurojackpot usually attracts more than 20 million players for every draw. The jackpot starts at €10 million but quickly grows when nobody wins, and it can climb as high as €120 million.
You have to match five main numbers from 1 to 50, plus two Euro numbers between 1 and 12, to win the jackpot. There are also lots of other ways to get prizes.
Winning numbers are selected every Tuesday and Friday night at approximately 21:00 EET. Draws take place in Helsinki, Finland.
You can see the latest results after every draw, and keep an eye on Euro-Jackpot.net for more news about Cyprus’ potential arrival.
