Eurojackpot Top Prize Won in Germany
A phenomenal top prize of €90 million attracted Eurojackpot players from across the continent for the draw on Friday 14th October, and one lucky ticket holder from Germany grabbed the lot to win the joint-largest jackpot ever given away on the game. There were over 1.6 million participants in total who scooped cash rewards, including eight players who split a second-tier prize fund of more than €22 million.
The winning numbers were 7, 10, 25, 39 and 42 with Euro numbers 3 and 6. The jackpot-winning ticket was bought in the Black Forest area of Baden-Württemberg, by a player who spent €20 on playing Friday’s game and received a return of 4.5 million times their stake. There was more success for Baden-Württemberg in the next winning tier, with someone from Karlsruhe among the five Germans to match five main numbers plus one Euro number.
There were also two ticket holders from Finland and one from the Netherlands who matched five main numbers plus one Euro number, each winning a fantastic €2.7 million. The Match 5+1 pool was so great because the game had reached its €90 million jackpot cap, so additional funds that would usually have increased the top prize were diverted to the next category down.
Other prizes won on the night ranged from €7.50 for matching two main numbers plus one Euro number to €109,022 for the 11 players who matched five main numbers. You can visit the Eurojackpot Results section to find out more information, including a full prize breakdown, as interest now turns to when the jackpot winner will come forward to claim their money.
Congratulating the winner, Baden-Württemberg’s lottery CEO Marion Caspers-Merk said: “90 million euros for the Black Forest record winner, nearly three million euros for a Karlsruher - which is a remarkable record for Baden-Württemberg. We are thrilled with the winners.”
A jackpot of €90 million has only previously been won once in the history of the game, when a player from the Czech Republic matched all five main numbers and both Euro numbers in May 2015. The top prize will now reset to €10 million for the next draw on Friday, giving participants from all 17 participating countries another chance to win astonishing amounts of cash.
