Finnish Player Wins €90 Million Eurojackpot Prize
A Finnish player won the entire €90 million Eurojackpot grand prize pool on Friday 9th February, the fourth time the jackpot has hit its maximum value. It is the biggest prize ever won in Finland and Veikkaus, the country’s national lottery provider, has confirmed the winning ticket was owned by a syndicate of five players from Loimaa, in the south west of the country.
Eurojackpot Results
The winning Eurojackpot numbers were 7, 8, 24, 34 and 46 with Euro numbers 4 and 8. In addition to the gigantic jackpot, there were eight winners in the Match 5+1 tier who snapped up awards of €3.5 million each. Five of the second-tier successes came in Germany, with one each hailing from Croatia, Finland and Norway.
The second prize was swollen thanks to the rolldown rule that dictates, when the top prize reaches its maximum of €90 million, all funds from ticket sales that would have increased it further are distributed instead amongst players who match five main numbers and one Euro number.

Finnish Eurojackpot Winner
The winning ticket was sold at a Prismassa supermarket in Loimaa, which boasts a population of just over 16,000 people. It is the country’s 16th Eurojackpot top-prize win, consolidating its position as the second most successful nation behind Germany, where 18 jackpots have landed.
Details of the winners’ identities are yet to be revealed, as they didn’t use a registered Veikkaus card to make their purchase, and lottery officials are eager for them to come forward. Staff at the store that sold the lucky slip found out about the win on Saturday morning and sales manager Tanja Raika joked that they celebrated the good news with brandy in their usual morning coffee!
Previous Jackpot Cap Winners
The first Eurojackpot winner at the jackpot cap of €90 million was a Czech man who scooped the then record success on 15th May 2015. Since then, a German player repeated the feat on 14th October 2016, whilst five ticket holders shared the maximum amount on 6th January 2017; three came from Germany, one from Denmark and another from the Netherlands.

Eurojackpot Syndicate Wins
The winning Finnish Eurojackpot syndicate is not the first lottery group to taste success on the game. In fact, the first ever jackpot was won by a pool of players in the Ruhr region of Germany. They shared a €19.5 million payday.
In addition, ten workers from a manufacturing plant in Akaa in Finland split a €57.2 million jackpot on 4th April 2014. You can find out more about organising and running a Eurojackpot syndicate at the dedicated page, as well as information on how playing in a group increases your chances of winning prizes.
This Week’s Jackpot
Friday’s jackpot has now reset to its minimum level of €10 million, which is still a huge sum, even if you do split it with a syndicate. Buy Eurojackpot tickets at retailers in any participating nation or choose your numbers online now.
