The lucky syndicate which won Finland’s largest lottery prize has come forward to claim the €90 million Eurojackpot prize dating back to Friday 9th February, bringing months of speculation to an end.

Veikkaus, Finland’s national lottery provider, had announced straight away that the all-important ticket had been sold in Loimaa, in the south west of the country. The game had been split into five shares but was not linked to a registered Veikkaus card and there had been worries about whether the winners would collect their prize.

Having now visited the head office this week, the players revealed that they had just decided to take a bit of time to let the news sink in first, and were keen to keep a low profile. There were four players in the group, and they had taken one share of the game each before splitting the fifth between them, making them all €22.5 million richer. Veikkaus spokeswoman Pipsa Öhman said: “We are delighted and relieved that the winners were found and the millions found their home.”

News that the winners had come forward was also greeted with jubilation at the Prisma supermarket in Loimaa where the ticket was sold. Tanja Raika, the sales manager of the store, said: “We started to have suspicions that a dog had maybe eaten the tickets. But this is fantastic news that they have been safe and sound the whole time.”

Raika is not so sure the winners will be able to stay out of the limelight, though, in a town with a population of around 16,000. She added: “Loimaa is a pretty small community. I'm sure everyone will be keeping an eye on their neighbours' driveway to see if a new car suddenly appears.”

Eurojackpot’s Top Prize Hits €65 Million

The top prize is now back up to its highest value since the Finnish winners banked €90 million, having rolled over for six straight draws. In the most recent game on Friday 4th May, the numbers drawn were 24, 26, 29, 36 and 49, plus Euro numbers 3 and 6.

There were 925,321 prizes given away across the 18 participating countries, including five ticket holders who matched all five main numbers and one Euro number to win €392,271 each. The big winners came from Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Spain.

Visit the Eurojackpot Results page to find a full breakdown of all the prizes given away on Friday night.

The jackpot for the next draw will be worth a fabulous €65 million, sparking interest everywhere as players try to get their hands on the top prize for just the fourth time this year. If you want to take part, you can either go to an authorised retailer in one of the participating countries or choose numbers online.
