Two German Players Split Record Eurojackpot Prize
Two Eurojackpot players from Germany split €120 million - the joint-largest jackpot in the game’s history - on Friday night as the long wait for a winner came to an end in an extraordinary draw.
There had been 17 consecutive rollovers since a ticket holder from Lithuania set a new Baltic record on 4th October with an €80.9 million win.
The jackpot reached its €120 million cap back on 15th November and stayed there for four more draws as nobody managed to match all the numbers, setting a new Eurojackpot record for the longest sequence of draws without a winner.
Finally, on 6th December, there was not one but two winners. Both players matched the numbers 8, 14, 45, 47 and 50, with Euro Numbers 2 and 12, to land €60 million each.
With the jackpot at its cap, all the extra funds that would have been added on top were instead allocated to the Match 5 + 1 Euro Number category, and on Friday there was more than €28 million in this second prize pot - another record for Eurojackpot. Two players - both, again, from Germany - shared the money.
Another 12 ticket holders won €221,813 in the third category, while a total of 1.5 million prizes were paid out across Europe. Go to the Eurojackpot Results page for all the draw details, including a breakdown of the winners for each country.
More Joy For Germany
Germany has been the most successful Eurojackpot country since the game started, and accounts for almost half of all the jackpots to have been won, with 71 out of 161.
The two latest winners purchased their tickets in the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. The two players who won in the second category came from Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Germany has also created many of the biggest wins in Eurojackpot history, which have all happened since the game’s cap was raised from €90 million to €120 million in early 2022.
However, the first winner of a €120 million jackpot came from Denmark. A ticket holder from Blåvand set the record back in July 2022 after a run of 15 draws without a winner.
The jackpot for the next draw will be worth €10 million. Keep an eye out for the latest results every Tuesday and Friday to see if the top prize builds back up or whether it will be won again before Christmas.
